Sapient, sapience (noun), sapiently (adverb), also
sapiens (adjective), sapid (adjective)
|
Sapience is associated with wisdom of a savory
nature. The word sapiens sits on top of sapient
in the dictionary, and is characterized with the word homo
sapiens, which is the classification for humans. Strangely,
there is no singular word for homo sapiens, or as a sapien.
Immediately, the diction clarifies this anomaly by telling us
that this is a reference to an older prehistoric version of
humans. The word sapient is from Middle English, Old French,
from Latin, sapiens, sapient-, present participle of
sapere, to taste, be wise.
The word savant [present participle of savior, a
learned person, to know] is also associated with the sapient and
the word sapid, which is often associated to
physical thinking and flavor, rather this is more a reference to
the mind. The question to ask is what engages the mind in
pleasing ways, and why?

Our ability to perceive begins with nature, and our sanctum
creation. But soon after, we become bored, and something is
driving us to be, or at least we think so. During this journey,
we'll seek these very things to please us, and we surround
ourselves with them, as for physical nature, and mentally,
another version, or any version, can be created for
perception
and programming.
According to esoteric teachers such as Boris Mouravieff, G.I.
Gurdjieff, and P.D. Ouspensky, all these happenings are
influences that are classified into [A] and [B] influences. In
the book, Gnosis II, the failure of wisdom is expressed by
humanity's gifted staring at the threshold on the staircase. The
homo sapiens mostly cannot set proper values that distinguish
all the influences apart from each other. All of life on
Earth
remains at the mercy of the law of accident.
The sapient is one who seeks to overcome these deviations, and
who may in fact seek out what is called the way
which has nothing to do with the normal pathos of life, rather a
much higher way according to G.I. Gurdjieff, quoted from "In
Search of the Miraculous" by P.D. Ouspensky.
| "Man lives in life under the law of
accident and under two kinds of influences again governed
by accident. The first kind are influences created in
life itself or by life itself. Influences of race,
nation, country, climate, family, education, society,
profession, manners and customs, wealth, poverty, current
ideas, and so on. The second kind are influences created
outside this life, influences of the inner circle, or
esoteric influences -- influences, that is, created under
different laws, although also on the Earth. These
influences differ from the former, first of all in being
conscious of their origin. This means that they
have been created consciously by conscious men for a
definite purpose. Influences of this kind are usually
embodied in the form of religious systems and teachings,
philosophical doctrines, works of art, and so on.
They are let out into life for a definite purpose, and
become mixed with influences of the first kind. But it
must be borne in mind that these influences are conscious
only in their origin. Coming into the vortex of life they
fall and the general law of accident and begin to act
mechanically, that is, they may act on a certain definite
man or may not act; they may reach him or they may not. In
undergoing change and distortion in life through
transmission and interpretation, influences of the second
kind are transformed into influences of the first kind,
that is, they become, as it were, merged into the
influences of the first kind." p199 |
The sapient is one who knows that distinguishing these two types
of influences can never allow them to be enumerated or
cataloged, they must be weighed upon exposure and thought, and in doing so, they move in
proximity to the created sanctum and the sapient ability to
discern the incoming knowledge. In stating, a Covenant of Love
or bond to this journey is made to form a magnetic center within
an individual, but also as a group, where others will seek out
the creator's pathos.
The transformation of old knowledge into new age ideas is
exactly the problem encountered when attempts to re-categorized
thoughts to match preferred and remolded influences are accepted
in pathos; this ends in a journey of
make-believe leading to destruction and more chaos passed on
generation to generation. This is evidenced by the mechanical
nature of life, and the rush to technology to replace our
physical efforts with nature for sports, and blocking the innate bond to
Earth, and discernment of her gifts of life.
There is no list to print out of all the happenings and
possibilities in life, they are infinite. The knowledge we have
obtained, and the inner feelings we discern joined with this
place in metaphysics is
interfaced with our
imagination perceived.
The cycle of the Son and the overuse of Time can only lead to
our demise, the spirit of life must
urgently commute in a higher dimension if our
esprit is to be
accomplished.
